Positive Energy District Workshop at STU from 8th to 12th May 2023

Spectra, Centre of Excellence and STU Bratislava were co-organizers of Positive Energy District students workshop, held at STU between 8th and 12th May 2023. Students teams from Polito Torino (Italy), Gdansk Polytechnic (Poland), Kutahya Dumlupinar University (Turkey) and STU Bratislava (Slovakia) were asked to develop a theoretical concept of PED and propose a vision for a selected part of STU campus (their study area).

Among the study areas were the inyards of STU as well as Square of Freedom as a public place. The topic of the workshop was the development of the Positive Energy District (PED) concept for university campus as a respond to the challenges of climate change and energy governance. Concept development was one of the task for student teams and it should be implemented in the STU campuses and adjacent public place (Square of Freedom). Teams were expected to analyze their study area, propose a vision for the area and develop a roadmap for how to achieve the vision. Part of the workshop were several excursions to the researched areas as well as to other relevant places in Bratislava comined with the theoretical lectures in form of Key notes from lecturers from STU and partner universities. Interactive work with large portion of interdisciplinary approaches using both hard data as well as soft tools of planning were highly appreciated by the participatants.
