Call for Applications

The Local organizing committee of the AESOP 2021 PhD workshop in Bratislava is inviting doctoral candidates from the planning schools to submit their applications to the AESOP 2021 PhD workshop.

Update: reflecting on the recent developments and perspectives in regards to the CoViD-19 pandemics, the AESOP PhD workshop 2021 will take place online and there will be no participation fee.

The call is open for 40 students with the preference of doctoral candidates from AESOP member schools. The selection of participants will be announced by the end of April 2021.

 

The selection from the workshop applications will be based on the double-blind evaluation process of the submitted
(up to 600 words) of the ongoing PhD research and the
(up to 1 500 words) as described below.

 

The executive summary shall specifically address:

  • the general topic that the thesis is intended to address and its connection to the main theme of the workshop;
  • research objectives and questions;
  • research methodology;
  • expected outcomes of the thesis;
  • reasons for the request for a bursary (only for AESOP members and members of the AESOP Young Academics Network wishing to apply for a scholarship).

The length of this summary shall be up to 600 words.

The input for scientific discussion

The idea of this input is to initiate scientific discussion into your selected part of the dissertation thesis in preparation. This part creates the content of your oral presentation during the workshop, the object of the reflection of the workshop’s tutors and the object for broader discussion among fellow PhD participants. The length of this input shall be up to 1500 words.

The submitted documents will be evaluated by the scientific committee on the basis of their quality and the ways in which they address the theme. Gender and geographical representation will also be considered.
